Background#

SINPE Movil is a Costa Rican mobile payments system, kind of like Zelle (in the US) or Interac (in Canada). Locals can connect their phone number to their bank account, allowing anyone to send fiat to a phone number, having it immediately credited to their bank account. It is wildly popular in Costa Rica, with 90%+ penetration in the market. Virtually everyone from a streetside produce vendor to large hotels accept payment with SINPE Movil.

Connection to BTC#

Toro Pagos has connected LN to SINPE Movil, allowing anyone with sats to send fiat in Costa Rica. Currently, you must use Bitcoin Jungle wallet to use the exchange, though in the future this will be available in the Bull Bitcoin app.

How to use#

Open the app#

If you haven’t yet downloaded Bitcoin Jungle, click here. Open the Bitcoin Jungle app on your device.

Load your wallet#

Once you’ve downloaded and logged into your Bitcoin Jungle wallet, click Receive, choose LN or on-chain and complete the transfer.
